Woolith Fair 2018 will take place April 27th to 29th, 2018. Plans are already underway for the event, including a whole new website! Please visit WoolithFair.ca for all the latest information, and to find out how to get involved!
Woolith Fair 2017 was a great success! We want to thank all the shops and studios – and the Alpaca Farm! – who served as Passport Stops for the weekend, as well as all the yarn yarn crawlers who took part in the Fair and came out to visit all the shops and studios. From what we have heard, everyone had a wonderful time and is now well stocked with yarn for the summer! 😉
In the week following Woolith Fair, we collected all the Passports and blanket squares that had been left at the various passport locations. In the coming weeks, the West Coast Knitters’ Guild will be organizing a group of volunteers to sew the blanket squares into blankets that can be donated to the Variety Blanket Drive.
The winners of the prize raffles were selected on the weekend. The winners are:
Beginner Crawler (at least 3 stamps on the passport): Anna Gurling
Intermediate Crawler (at least 7 stamps): Lori Nelson
Master Crawler (at least 14 stamps): Sue Dadson
All the winners have already been contacted and the prizes have been delivered. Congratulations everyone!
We will be announcing the dates for Woolith Fair 2018 very soon. Stay tuned so you can put the dates in your calendar, and start planning for next year’s yarn crawl!
Woolith Fair has finally arrived and I know that some of you have been out and about since early this morning, making sure that you take in as many Crawl Stops as possible!
Make sure to read through the blog posts below to verify the store hours and addresses of each location, so that you don’t miss out on anything. When you have finished your Woolith Fair adventure, leave your passport at the last store you visit. We will collect the passports later this week, and then draw the winners of our three Crawl Raffle prizes. Winners will be notified by email, and their names will also be posted here on the website.
We would like to thank all of the participating shops, farms, and yarn dyers who contributed prizes to this years event! A special thanks also to Diamond Yarns, for contributing prize items even though they can’t be here to take part in the Crawl in person. And in case you missed it on Instagram, here are a few photos of all those lovely prizes:

Kensington Prairie Farm is a working farm and home to 52 Huacaya Alpacas and 48 Registered Polled Herefords. In both breeds, we utilize the best genetics available and breed only our top females to ensure quality offspring. Poor quality animals are not utilized in our breeding programs.
Alpacas are fleece animals. Each spring we send a small fleece sample from each alpaca to a testing lab in Australia. These test results are a valuable stock management tool, which assist us in annual breeding decisions and alpaca shearing preparations. After shearing, we sort and grade our fleece into six grades, two lengths and twelve colours. Only the finest fleeces are made into yarn and finished goods. Course or robust fleece is recycled as hanging basket liners or garden mulch.
The on-farm store is located in the big red barn – right in the middle of every day farming activities. The store features a broad selection of locally produced and imported alpaca products. All the raw fleece, roving, yarn, duvet batting, ‘Signature’ woven throws and hand-knit products are produced from fleece harvested from our own alpaca herd. Additional alpaca products such as clothing, scarves, socks, accessories, slippers and home décor products are imported from Peru. Surrounded by numerous alpaca paddocks, a visit to the farm store also leads to picture taking and conversations with the alpacas.
Ever a nuisance but always inquisitive, you will likely be met by one of our Muscovy ducks!
Yarn Crawl Hours: Friday: 10am – 5pm; Saturday: 10 – 5pm; Sunday: 10 – 5pm
Special in Store Events: KPFarm will offer an additional 10% discount (TOTAL 20% discount for crawl passport holders ONLY) on purchases of raw alpaca fleece, roving, yarn and duvet batting. We invite you to view our latest production of alpaca yarn.
After sorting and grading the fleece post-shearing, we stockpiled until we amassed a record 700 lbs. of premier Grades 1, 2, 3 and 4 fleece in a multitude of natural colours. It took over a year to process this amount of fleece and we are proud to showcase our best yarn ever to discerning knitters participating in Woolith Fair.
Our Spring Sales Event will be in full swing and we invite you to browse our large selection of alpaca socks, accessories, clothing and home decor products.
